Surtees Boats has a new general manager in Philip Wilson.

Philip took over the reins of the eastern Bay of Plenty trailerboat manufacturer from incumbent CEO Adam Dyck just as the Covid – 19 Level 4 lockdown began in late March.

Originally from the UK, Phil is a trained mechanical engineer, having worked in a variety of sectors, including aerospace, defence, marine, medical, and scientific. Phil is a specialist in materials, the implementation of robotics and advanced manufacturing technology. His extensive experience in the fields of welding, fabrication, and precision engineering will be a great addition to Surtees, a company already respected for its innovation.

Much of his recent work has been in the field of change management, working with divisions of large corporates and specialist SME’s to enable them to transition to the next level.

Living in New Zealand for over 10 years, Phil has operated in the field of commercial, operations and general management, supporting some of new Zealand’s leading technology exporters.

Passionate about all things outdoors, he is an avid fresh and saltwater angler, scuba diver and hunter. He is also an active member of the Coastguard, working in both wet units and air patrol.

Phil plans to build the work done by Adam over the last five years on the Surtees heritage of innovation and quality, designing and building superior products to enhance their customers’ experience.

“Surtees has the potential for further develop its lean and dynamic manufacturing model, continuing to build on a strong brand while extending the Surtees boating community within both our existing and future markets,” Phil says.
