ZEELANDER Z72 TO EXPLORE NORWAY

THE LATEST ZEELANDER Z72 from the shipyard facility in Groot-Ammers, the Netherlands was christened with a bottle of champagne and named Lugduno, amid a festive gathering with the owners, family, friends, and the entire staff of Zeelander Yachts.

“Our first destination is Norway, to explore the Fjords. After that, we’ll see where the yacht will take us”, said the owner with a proud smile.

The name Lugduno has a rich history and was chosen carefully. It refers to the homeport, Katwijk, which was called Lugduno by the Romans. This old marina used to serve as a naval base and had an important function in the defence of the Roman Empire.

“We’ve always had a link to the water, but this is our first yacht. It was obvious that it had to be a Zeelander. The design is so beautiful. I was touched by it. It wouldn’t go out of my mind”, said the owner after baptising the ship.

With an overall length of 66 feet, she is the flagship of the shipyard. The exterior design emerged from an intense and long-lasting collaboration between Zeelanders’ in-house design team and renowned Dutch designer Cor D Rover.

The Z72 has a striking S-shaped exterior design that complements the looks of the generous bow, slim stern design and spacious windows – design features that are characteristic across the Zeelander range.

The main deck layout is expansive and resourceful with the inside supplying 360 panoramic views. The wheelhouse, dining, and kitchenette are located here in the heart of the ship. In this area, the windows are fitted with privacy glass, creating an intimate atmosphere in the evening. The master suite and two guest cabins, all with ensuite bathrooms, are situated on the lower deck.

Lugduno can accommodate six guests in three staterooms and provides one captain’s cabin.

The yacht is a serious powerhouse, powered by three Volvo Penta 1350 IPS engines – top speed 40 knots. Even at such a high speed, noise and vibration levels remain low due to the efficient hull shape, the total weight of the yacht and the extensive use of sound deadening materials.
