The USA quickly takes an early lead, but the competition remains fierce as both teams battle it out down the lane. The UK team initially gains momentum, pushing their speed to 40 knots. However, the USA reclaims the lead as both boats navigate around the bend.
By 1:29 AM, the race intensifies as both teams approach the bottom mark. At this point, the USA maintains a narrow lead, with a six-second gap between them and the UK.
As the clock strikes 1:31 AM, the teams round the bottom mark, and the USA still holds the advantage. However, by 1:32 AM, the UK is trailing by 250 meters.


As the USA nears the top bend, the UK struggles to close the gap. A minor miscalculation by the USA at 1:35 AM, as they take a dive after turning the corner, briefly opens an opportunity for the UK. Despite this, the USA still maintains a substantial 450-meter lead.
At 1:38 AM, the USA rounds the bend with the UK still 450 meters behind. By 1:39 AM, the UK begins to narrow the lead, reducing the gap to 400 meters. The lead continues to shrink, reaching 330 meters by 1:41 AM.
At 1:42 AM, the USA rounds the top mark, marking the final leg of the race. The UK rounds the top mark at 1:43 AM, still 300 meters behind. Both teams push hard in the final stretch, but it’s clear that the USA is holding strong.
By 1:45 AM, NYYC American Magic crosses the finish line, securing victory in a dramatic and closely contested race.
