18 months ago, passionate Kiwi boaties Ron and Tracye Mossman, recognising a market niche for a brokerage that prioritised high-quality service with integrity, founded South Pacific Boat Sales Ltd. Their commitment lies in providing unparalleled personal service to customers buying or selling powerboats or sailboats across the Auckland–Northland region.
South Pacific Boat Sales offers valuable advice to sellers on presenting their boats for sale, provides ‘Comparative Market Assessments’ to determine accurate values, and handles negotiations, berthage arrangements and more – before and after the sale. Its goal is to guide buyers and sellers through every step of the process, ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience.
Ron understands the importance of knowing the seller’s journey – their reasons for purchasing the boat, their adventures, and why they wish to sell. “For us, it’s not just about selling a boat; it’s about helping clients turn the page to the next chapter of their lives,” says Ron.

Now, after a successful year and a half selling boats, the business has grown to the point where it has added a new broker to the team. Ron and Tracye are excited to welcome Mike Mottl to South Pacific Boat Sales. Already an accomplished marine broker, Mike is the full package. Mike’s yachting experience is truly diverse. His journey spans the full spectrum of sailing, including yacht racing and exploring open ocean waters. He races classic J-class superyachts and has raced with five America’s Cup teams. He also competed at the Olympic Games in the Soling keelboat. He has worked in the bareboat charter industry and performed sales and service with the world’s largest production yacht manufacturer. Mike also sailed his own Beneteau 50 from Spain to New Zealand, giving his young family the experience of a lifetime. He knows what he is talking about!
