Seven men have been rescued after their boat overturned while crossing the Kawhia Bar in Waikato yesterday evening.
A rescure operation involving the Coastguard from Raglan and Auckland zones launched search and rescue operations when the vessel failed to file a report saying it had successfully crossed the sand bar.
The boaties made it to shore near Opapaka Point.
One had a minor head injury and another was taken to hospital by helicopter with leg injuries.
The police said the men were well-prepared for an emergency and activated their locator beacon.
