Super Sunday: A format for champions

Sunday’s racing features three fleet races, where every point will count, before the top three teams advance to a winner-takes-all final. With only five points separating second and sixth place, the fight for a spot in the final promises intense, close-quarters racing.

Leaderboard update: Australia sets the pace

Heading into day two, Australia sits comfortably atop the leaderboard with 34 points, showcasing exceptional consistency and boat handling. However, the leaderboard remains tight:

  • Emirates GBR holds second place but will need to maintain their momentum, the next block of teams are chasing them hard.
  • New Zealand, the home favourites, are currently in 4th after a mixed performance on Saturday, keeping fans hopeful for a comeback on Sunday.

A historic weekend

Auckland’s eight-race schedule sets a new benchmark for SailGP, delivering double the action and offering fans more opportunities to witness the skill and strategy of the world’s fastest sailors.

“It’s incredible to see such a packed schedule,” said SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts. “Auckland is setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to this leg of the championship.”

Today’s event details

Today is the final day of the ITM 2025 New Zealand Sail Grand Prix, with racing from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM NZDT.

As the fleet battles it out for a coveted spot in the final, all eyes will be on New Zealand to see if they can capitalise on their home advantage. Will Australia remain at the top of the Auckland table, or can another team rise to the challenge?
