At today’s SailGP pre-race press conference in Auckland, SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts shared a glimpse of exciting developments.

The French SailGP team is in the final stages of an ownership transaction, with plans underway for the team to be privately purchased from F50 League LLC, SailGP’s legal entity. Sir Russell confirmed that further details will be released in the coming days.

Closer to home, there’s exciting news for Kiwis! Peter Burling revealed to Boating New Zealand that the Black Foils are also engaged in ownership discussions. While details are still unfolding, Burling hinted that developments are expected over the next 3–4 months.

Stay tuned for updates as the Black Foils potentially join the ranks of privately owned SailGP teams!
