Finnmaster Boats, a well-established Scandinavian boat builder with a presence in New Zealand, has announced a renewed partnership with Mercury Marine. This collaboration marks a significant shift for Finnmaster, which will now handle its own global sales and marketing efforts, rather than relying on a distribution partner. The move signals a new era for the brand as it expands its reach and strengthens its product offering.

Finnmaster has a long history of working with Mercury Marine, dating back to its early years. Over time, the company observed Mercury’s advancements in the outboard engine market, particularly in power, fuel efficiency, and noise reduction. This ultimately led to the decision to rekindle the relationship.

Chairman of the Board of Finnmaster Boats Ltd, Jari Löfroos, explained the motivation behind the renewed partnership: “Finnmaster has a rich history of partnering with Mercury Marine already during the early years of its journey. Along the years, we have closely followed the product development of Mercury Marine and witnessed them taking the lead in the outboard engine industry. For Finnmaster Boats, continuous innovation and the best possible boating experience is very important. The modern range of Mercury outboards, with their class-leading power, fuel economy and the comfort of lowest engine noise levels, along with the dependability of the products, gave us the confidence that it was time to re-establish a global partnership with Mercury Marine.”

With this agreement, Finnmaster’s range of outboard-powered boats—including Finnmaster, Husky, and Grandezza models—will now be offered with Mercury Marine’s premium outboard engines, including the L4, V6, V8, V10, and V12 options. This move ensures that Finnmaster’s boats are equipped with cutting-edge propulsion technology that enhances performance and reliability.

For dealers and customers worldwide, this means a broader selection of boats that come with Mercury’s trusted power solutions. Mercury Marine’s EMEA OEM Channel Director, Jussi Sepponen, highlighted the significance of this renewed relationship: “Finnmaster Boats has been one of the leading recreational boat manufacturers in North Europe since the 1990s. We at Mercury Marine are very proud to re-establish this important partnership. During the recent years, we have received a lot of requests from Finnmaster’s global base of dealers and boat owners to offer Mercury outboards to Finnmaster, Husky, and Grandezza boats. As a result of this renewed partnership, we will be able to supply Mercury Marine’s products to Finnmaster’s existing base of dealers, and likewise, get Finnmaster’s boats with Mercury power available to our global network of Mercury dealers for supporting the business growth for both parties.”

With this renewed partnership, Finnmaster is taking a confident step toward global expansion, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see its presence grow in the New Zealand market in the coming years
