Carbon Yachts appointed exclusive distributor for Shogun Yachts in Australia and New Zealand

Carbon Yachts is proud to announce its exclusive appointment as the distributor for Shogun Yachts across Australia and New Zealand. Built in Sweden, Shogun represents a bold and highly refined take on performance sailing—combining Scandinavian craftsmanship, carbon construction, and a sharp design focus on ease, control, and enjoyment.

The brand was founded by Swedish entrepreneur and sailor Mats Bergryd, who sought to create a yacht that could offer race-boat performance without the need for a full professional crew. Drawing on his experience sailing high-performance yachts such as the ClubSwan 50, Bergryd worked closely with the respected Södergren design team and Sweden’s Rosättra shipyard to realise a new concept: a yacht that delivers exceptional handling and speed, yet is accessible enough to be enjoyed short-handed, or with a casual crew.

The Shogun 50 was the first to be launched—an aggressive, lightweight carbon yacht that captured international attention for its minimalist style and confident sailing ability. It was followed by the Shogun 43, continuing the same design philosophy in a more compact form. Both models are built around a core belief that modern performance sailing should feel intuitive and rewarding, not over-complicated.

With features like adjustable twin rudders, hydraulic trimming systems accessible from the helm, and efficient sail-handling layouts, Shogun yachts are designed to be sailed actively—but comfortably. Inside, the aesthetic is functional, clean and inviting—prioritising open spaces for entertaining and connection, with enough flexibility for overnight stays, without the burden of unnecessary weight or complexity.

Chris Hrones, Co-Founder of Carbon Yachts, experienced the Shogun 43 during a test sail in Palma and visited the production facility in Sweden.

“What impressed me most wasn’t just the speed or how light the boat felt—it was the wayeverything worked together with such clarity. The systems are smart and efficient, but they don’t get in the way of sailing. You’re fully engaged at the helm, but never overwhelmed.” — Peter Hrones..

Peter Hrones, who has introduced many of Europe’s most celebrated builders to the Australian and New Zealand markets over the past two decades, said Shogun has long stood out for its striking approach and focused thinking.

“Shogun is a brand I’ve followed closely for years. There’s a strong identity in the design—bold lines and aggressive detailing—but also real purpose underneath it. Like Saffier and YYachts, Shogun shares a commitment to simplifying the sailing experience—prioritising helm feel, clean layouts, and design that encourages time on the water rather than complexity.” Peter Hrones.

With the addition of Shogun, Carbon Yachts further strengthens its portfolio of Europe’s most progressive yacht builders. Each brand—whether through advanced materials, thoughtful layouts, or intuitive sail plans—is redefining what modern sailing can look like in Australia and New Zealand.
