Sunreef Yachts expands into New Zealand with Ocean Independence Partnership

Ocean Independence will now act as Sunreef Yacht‘s official representative in Aotearoa, offering local access to the brand’s full range of custom sailing and power catamarans—including their growing line-up of solar-electric Eco models. Based in Auckland’s Viaduct, the Ocean Independence team is ideally placed to support new owners and charter clients, with hands-on guidance and global reach.

It’s not a new relationship, but an evolved one. Ocean Independence already has experience managing and selling Sunreef models, including the 43 Eco and the 70-foot GINETTE, which has operated across Europe, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Their expanded role now brings that expertise home, with a local focus.

“With Ocean Independence, we gain a strong presence in New Zealand,” said Sunreef Yachts founder Francis Lapp. “We’re pleased to strengthen our ongoing collaboration in this important market.”

The timing is no accident. Demand for large, high-performance multihulls is climbing as more Kiwi boaters seek out long-range capability, sustainability, and luxury—all areas where Sunreef excels. The South Pacific continues to draw global cruising and charter traffic, and New Zealand is emerging as a vital support hub for that activity.

With this move, Sunreef Yachts signals its intent to engage more directly with New Zealand’s yachting community. And for local buyers, it means the chance to explore the brand’s spectacular builds—without leaving home.
