KEYPOINTS
  • New trolling motor features: Depth Routing, Anchor at a Distance, and Anchor Orbit improve boat positioning and casting precision

  • Sharper sonar with ActiveTarget 2: clearer fish and structure definition, plus new display modes and colour palettes

  • Track lures from splash to hookset with enhanced Depth Offset and Reverse Range in Forward view

  • Power-Pole integration: now supports anchors, ONE Pump, and CHARGE battery management via Bluetooth and NMEA 2000

  • Yak Power compatibility brings digital switching to kayaks and small boats, controlled via Lowrance displays

  • Update 25.2 is free for HDS PRO and Elite FS users — now available for download

Lowrance has rolled out its 25.2 software update, and it’s more than a routine refresh. For Kiwi anglers using Ghost®, Ghost X, or RECON™ trolling motors, this means newfound precision and control on the water. Three new features stand out: Depth Routing, Anchor at a Distance, and Anchor Orbit – all designed to help boaties fish smarter, not harder.

Fully integrated installation

The Depth Routing tool allows anglers to map a route within a specific depth band – for example, between 4 and 7 metres. Once set, the trolling motor keeps the boat in that zone automatically, ideal for staying in the strike zone without fiddling at the helm.

Anchor at a Distance allows you to pin your boat at a set distance from a waypoint, rather than hovering right on top of it. It’s perfect for casting to a spot while keeping boat noise well away from fish-holding structure. And with Anchor Orbit, the motor can circle a target at a set radius, clockwise or counterclockwise, maintaining casting range while working a school or following the contour.

“These features are designed to keep you fishing more and fiddling less,” says Jeremiah Clark, VP and GM at Navico Group. “It’s about giving anglers more confidence and control.”

ActiveTarget 2 gets a clarity boost

Lowrance’s real-time sonar tech, ActiveTarget 2, also sees a major lift. Fishos will now benefit from sharper detail and better image contrast – particularly useful for identifying subtle structures like weed edges or drop-offs.

Split-screen views are now adaptive, dynamically adjusting to screen layout so nothing gets cut off or crowded. A new Reverse Range setting improves visibility at the top of the water column – ideal for tracking bait from surface to bottom.

Anglers can also adjust Depth Offset based on their transducer mount, making sure what’s on screen reflects real-world depth more accurately. Plus, more colour palette options help improve visibility in different light or water conditions.

Expanded third-party integrations

This release also strengthens Lowrance’s integration ecosystem. Power-Pole anchors are now compatible via C-Monster Gateway (NMEA 2000) or Bluetooth. That means full anchor control directly from HDS PRO or Elite FS displays. The update also adds control for Power-Pole’s ONE Pump System and CHARGE battery manager, including a new power priority slider – letting you decide where juice goes first.

2002 | 11.31m / 37.11ft | This very well maintained four-cabin Lagoon 380 has undergone a major refit over the past three years and is in turn key condition for the next owners, with nothing more to spend. Recent major upgrades include all new sails (2022), new twin Yanmar 30hp diesel engines with only 200 hours (2022), a large solar array (2021), and new Maxwell windlass (2024).

There’s also native support for Yak Power, a digital switching system popular with kayak fishers and tinnie owners. You can now run Yak Power lights and accessories right from your Lowrance display, eliminating the need for separate switches.

Designed for fish-focused boating

Lowrance’s 25.2 release reinforces the brand’s focus on making fishing easier, faster, and more effective. With stronger bow-motor automation, improved sonar visibility, and greater third-party integration, it’s clear the company’s keeping pace with how fishos want to use their boats – and making room for even more gear, systems, and control options.

The Lowrance software update is available now for compatible units, including HDS PRO and Elite FS.
