Chaos on the Portsmouth course as small craft crosses SailGP course moments after Race 6 began
The sixth race of the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix has been abandoned after a small spectator craft entered the live racing zone shortly after the start. The incident triggered an immediate red flag and a full course reset from race management.
The drama unfolded just seconds after a chaotic opening saw France lead to Mark 1, followed by fast starts from Germany, Spain, and Australia. Several protests were filed — including from Brazil and Switzerland — as the pack compressed near the first turn. The Kiwis were mid-fleet and just beginning to build pace when the red flag was issued.
At 03:32:17 New Zealand time, just after the start gun, the race was officially terminated. A new start sequence has since been announced, with a restart expected imminently.
