Lowrance’s latest ActiveTarget Software (25.2) upgrade: sharper, smarter, more connected

The newest Lowrance ActiveTarget Software (25.2) upgrade brings a raft of features to help anglers fish smarter and stay in control.

Lowrance owners have reason to fire up their displays this month. The brand’s latest software release delivers a serious boost to sonar clarity, trolling motor control, and onboard integration — all without buying new hardware.

Sharper ActiveTarget® views

Live sonar fans will notice the difference straight away. The update sharpens resolution, adds new colour palettes, and introduces a split-screen option with a Reverse Range feature for tracking fish and lures with greater precision. A refined Depth Offset setting even opens views right to the water’s surface, letting you follow a lure’s journey from splash-down to strike.

Smarter trolling motor control

For those running Ghost® X, Ghost, or Recon™ trolling motors through an HDS® PRO display, three new tools are now on tap. Depth Routing automatically keeps your boat within a chosen depth range, while Anchor Orbit holds position in a slow circle around a spot. Anchor at a Distance lets you lock onto a target from further out, perfect for stalking wary fish in the shallows.

Lowrance’s Depth Routing feature automatically plots and updates a safe course within a user-defined depth range. In the quick tip video, viewers learn how to open and activate the tool, set minimum and maximum depths, and follow routes that adjust in real time. The walkthrough also explains the meaning of yellow direction lines, how to reverse a route, and the importance of keeping charts active for uninterrupted navigation. Designed for Ghost® and Recon™ trolling motor users, it helps avoid shallow hazards while keeping the boat in prime fishing depths longer.

Lowrance’s Anchor Orbit feature lets Recon™ trolling motors automatically circle a waypoint at a set distance, clockwise or counterclockwise, so anglers can focus on fishing. The quick tip video shows how to pick a waypoint, choose orbit direction and range, and use autopilot with cruise control for precise, hands-free boat positioning.

Lowrance’s Anchor at a Distance feature lets Recon™ trolling motors automatically drive to and hold position on a selected waypoint or cursor location, keeping you locked on a spot without spooking fish.

Expanded integration

Lowrance has broadened compatibility with popular marine tech. Power-Pole® shallow water anchors can now be controlled via NMEA 2000® or Bluetooth®, with support for the One Pump System and CHARGE battery integration. MOVE™ trolling motors and Yak Power® systems are also now part of the network.

More under the hood

Other refinements include:

  • Heave Compensation for the S3100H
  • Bob’s Machine Shop Jack Plate monitoring
  • Increased SideScan range on Elite FS units with reduced interference
  • Sonar improvements with AIRMAR® Medium Chirp and new ultra-wide transducer support
  • SiriusXM® interface tweaks and Flex 19 touch commands for HDS® PRO

For most users, it’s a free performance upgrade that’s only a download away. Lowrance has posted a step-by-step video guide on updating software — worth a look before heading out.
