A new look for a proven performer

Rayglass has launched a bold evolution of its iconic Protector line with the 330 Targa R edition, a model that stays true to the brand’s roots while clearly targeting a new kind of buyer.

This 10-metre RIB retains the Protector’s proven hull but adds refined detailing, new graphics, and a serious performance spec. The upgrades speak to both offshore ability and a growing luxury market.

The R edition builds on Rayglass’s reputation for reliability in harsh conditions — something Kiwi owners have trusted for decades — but introduces premium finishes and tech designed to turn heads at the marina.

Performance meets polish

The boat comes equipped with twin Mercury Racing 400R V10s, delivering 800hp and reportedly capable of 63 knots. Mercury’s joystick piloting, Skyhook positioning, and electric steering are standard, along with a bow thruster for low-speed control.

The helm features Simrad’s 16-inch NSS Evo3 display, Halo radar, Airmar 1kW sonar, and VHF with AIS. A 360-degree LED search light and Fusion stereo system round out the electronics suite.

Comfort upgrades include a removable transom seat system, a freshwater wet station with fridge and sink, electric toilet, and dual windscreen wipers — all under a large hardtop enclosure.

Built for more than speed

Diamond-stitched upholstery, custom R branding, and a reworked layout position the 330 Targa R edition as a versatile, high-performance commuter, superyacht tender, or serious day boat.

“This is a boat built for discerning buyers,” says Rayglass President Dean Harris. “We’re pairing capability with styling and tech for owners who want something different.”

While the standard Protectors remain staples in work and patrol roles — including as SailGP support vessels — the R edition shows how the platform is expanding. It’s a Protector, but with polish.

Available now

The first example of the 330 Targa R edition is available for viewing at Rayglass’s Mount Wellington showroom. It’s already drawing attention from private buyers and superyacht programs alike.

With luxury RIB demand rising and the performance pedigree well established, Rayglass looks set to lead this growing segment — once again.

Pontoonz Floating Solutions

It all started in 2003 when… We wanted our own houseboat. A simple craft where we could sleep and potter around our estuary with friends and family. Most solutions were very expensive and, somehow, not flexible or friendly. So, with the help of marine experts we designed the “do it yourself” method of interlinking plastic pods. We added a deck and a garden shed. Fun came naturally. Now everybody wants one! We have supplied all over the world including Antarctica. You may also have reco...
