From the moment the gates opened today, Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park has been buzzing. The halls and outdoor precinct were alive with the clink of stainless fittings, the scent of new gelcoat, and the chatter of visitors swapping boating stories. More than 21,000 square metres of indoor exhibition space has been transformed into a boatie’s dream, backed by an outdoor sprawl along Riverina Avenue where live music drifts from the Garden Bar and polished hulls glint in the sunlight.
A showcase for world premieres
This year’s show is more than a place to browse — it’s a launchpad. With the indoor exhibition space sold out, the 2025 event has drawn an extraordinary line-up of premieres, both international and local.
From overseas come the Active Anchor, an ingenious variable pitch, all-terrain anchor that buries and holds like a crab or stingray; Edencraft’s 655 Centre Console, a deep-V, offshore-ready powerhouse built for hardcore fishing; and the ROTO Hydra530, the first mono-hull polyethylene boat to feature air step technology, marrying durability with a surprisingly smooth ride.
Asia-Pacific debuts include Vortum ultra-quiet marine generators designed and built in Brisbane, Chapman Marine’s SDX 270 Outboard loaded with comfort and storage for all-day cruising, and the 2026 Malibu Wakesetter, tuned for Australasian conditions. Also making waves is the fully stainless Savwinch Winch Hauler, a robust solution for effortless launch and retrieval.
On home waters, Australian brands are shining. BRIG’s Navigator 22 and 24 promise stability and versatility, and the Fanttik X9 Cross portable high-pressure pump proves handy from paddleboards to tenders. The Cobalt CS22 makes its Australian debut as a compact yet luxurious runabout, Henri-Lloyd introduces its high-performance Dynamic Motion sailing apparel, and Spliseal showcases a new waterproof electrical splicing system. Whittley Marine rounds out the list with a six-strong aluminium series paired with the latest Honda outboards.
New Zealand is also well represented, with Stabicraft’s 2350 Ultra Centrecab offering full walkaround fishability, Haines Hunter previewing upcoming models, Surtees Boats appearing alongside “ET” in the outdoor zone, and Senator Boats joining the action on the Good Times Marine stand.
Experiences beyond the boats
The Sydney Boat Show has always been more than a static display, and 2025 is no exception. Visitors can sit in on live fishing presentations or watch Miguel Maestre work his magic with fresh seafood on stage. The Demonstration Pool offers a chance to test paddle craft and see new products in action, while the Boating Safety Zone provides hands-on safety advice.
Fishing fans will gravitate to the Berkley Supertank, where Michael “Cookie” Cook demonstrates casting and lure techniques. Outdoors, the Riverina Avenue precinct hums with marine and lifestyle exhibitors, the clink of glasses from the Garden Bar, and the scent of food trucks cooking up a storm.
Adding a star touch, Australian fishing legend Andrew “ET” Ettingshausen is making scheduled appearances, chatting with fans and swapping fishing yarns. Families will find plenty to keep the kids happy too, from face painting to interactive displays designed to spark the next generation’s love for the water.
