Indonesia has unveiled a milestone project with Bali Gapura Marina, the country’s first international full-service marina. The name Gapura, meaning “gateway” in Balinese, reflects both the cultural heritage of Bali and the marina’s role as a new entry point for international yachts. Built in Benoa, Bali, the development is expected to transform Indonesia’s standing on the global yachting map and serve as a catalyst for maritime tourism across the archipelago.

The marina broke ground on 22 May 2025 and covers 33,000 square metres. When completed in the third quarter of 2026, it will offer 180 berths, including capacity for 50 superyachts up to 90 metres. A full suite of services will be available, from technical support and a travellift to lifestyle facilities by 2028.

Construction is progressing quickly. Dock B, the smallest of the five planned docks, will be the first to open. Equipped with 48 berths, eleven concrete pontoons, and state-of-the-art water and power pedestals, it represents an important first step.

A pilot commercial opening is scheduled for December 2025, when visiting yachts will gain access to water, electricity, provisioning, and a dedicated Welcome Station to manage QICP (Quarantine, Immigration, Customs and Port) formalities. Docks A and C remain in production, while Dock D is being developed as a floating breakwater.

By mid-2026, full technical services will be operational, followed by the expansion to 180 berths later that year. A waterfront lifestyle hub is planned by 2028, ensuring the marina not only supports visiting yachts but also contributes to Bali’s economy and culture.

For a nation with more than 17,000 islands, Bali Gapura Marina signals a long-awaited step into the world of international yachting.

Pontoonz Floating Solutions

It all started in 2003 when… We wanted our own houseboat. A simple craft where we could sleep and potter around our estuary with friends and family. Most solutions were very expensive and, somehow, not flexible or friendly. So, with the help of marine experts we designed the “do it yourself” method of interlinking plastic pods. We added a deck and a garden shed. Fun came naturally. Now everybody wants one! We have supplied all over the world including Antarctica. You may also have reco...
