Pittwater Sail Expo 2025: Australia’s largest celebration of sailing opens this weekend

The Pittwater Sail Expo opens today at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) in Newport and runs from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October. Supported by Pantaenius, the event is recognised as Australia’s largest sailing boat show and celebrates the energy, craftsmanship, and community spirit that define the sport.

The RPAYC is one of Australia’s oldest and most respected yacht clubs. Founded in 1856 as the Mosquito Yacht Club, it was renamed the Prince Alfred Yacht Club in 1867 ahead of the visit of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh. The club received its Royal charter from King George V in 1911 and relocated its operations from Sydney Harbour to the scenic waters of Pittwater by 1969. Today, its Green Point clubhouse remains the beating heart of yachting on Sydney’s northern beaches.

This proud tradition continues with the 2025 Pittwater Sail Expo, which brings together leading Australian and international marine brands under one banner. Exhibitors include Carbon Yachts, Leopard Catamarans, Elvstrøm Sails, Harken, Ronstan, X-Yachts, Performance Boating, TMG Lagoon, and Windcraft Yachts. More than 35 yachts are on display, ranging from performance monohulls to luxury bluewater cruisers and catamarans. Visitors can compare models such as the Catalina 426 and Italia 12.98, and see three Grand Soleil yachts together on one dock, the GS34, GS40, and GS46LC.

The Expo has grown steadily since 2012, when it was staged under the Club Marine banner and quickly became a sell-out success. In later years, highlights have included the Australian premiere of the Lagoon 52 catamaran and the award-winning Sun Odyssey 440. Today, the event attracts thousands of visitors and continues to serve as a launch platform for new models, products, and ideas within the marine industry.

The onshore precinct adds another dimension, with sailmakers, riggers, electronics specialists, and marine service providers offering advice and demonstrations. The timing is ideal for those planning a 2026 delivery or summer refit, and for anyone who simply wants to explore the boats and innovations shaping Australia’s sailing future.

The full list of entries is available from the PIC Coastal Classic website.
