Boat owners now have an updated national directory of approved haulout facilities, covering more than 50 sites from Northland to Bluff. The database, published on Marinepests.nz, includes locations where biofouling and antifouling materials are safely captured and disposed of to protect local marine environments.
Using an approved facility ensures that contaminated waste and chemicals are managed responsibly — a crucial step in preventing the spread of marine pests and maintaining clean waterways. Boaties are encouraged to plan ahead and book haulout slots early, especially as the summer season approaches.
The directory includes commercial haulouts open to the public but excludes most private club facilities that restrict access to members. Operators can submit updates or corrections by emailing info@marinepests.nz.
For convenience, a printable PDF version of the 2025–26 haulout list is available for download, alongside an interactive map of all facilities nationwide.
If you’re getting your boat ready for summer, it’s the perfect time to check your antifoul, clean your hull, and ensure you’re doing your part to keep New Zealand’s waters pest-free.
