Hobsonville Marina completes major hardstand upgrade

Hobsonville Marina has completed a significant upgrade to its hardstand facilities, reinforcing its position as one of Auckland’s leading full service marinas and refit hubs.

The latest works have seen the majority of the marina hardstand tar sealed, adding approximately 1,800 square metres of sealed surface. The upgrade delivers immediate benefits for both operators and vessel owners, including improved accessibility, better drainage, reduced dust, and a safer, more durable working environment for haul outs, maintenance, and long or short term storage.

Built in the late 1980s, Hobsonville Marina is one of New Zealand’s largest privately operated recreational marinas. Located in Auckland’s upper Waitematā Harbour, the marina is easily accessed from the CBD either over the Harbour Bridge or via State Highway 16, making it a practical base for both local and visiting boat owners.

The marina is supported by a comprehensive marine service centre, with facilities capable of handling everything from a quick pre race water blast to a full refit project. Two travel lifts service the hardstand, including a 75 tonne lift with a maximum beam of 6.4 metres and a 35 tonne lift with a maximum beam of 5.5 metres.

In addition to its haul out and hardstand capability, Hobsonville Marina offers short and long term berthing for vessels up to 30 metres, with access to berths up to 40 metres available through the wider Marinas Group at Bayswater Marina. A nearby retail and service precinct, located within walking distance of all piers, adds further convenience for crews and owners.

Situated close to the Hauraki Gulf and popular island cruising grounds, Hobsonville Marina remains a practical, well connected base for sailing, fishing, and maintenance. The recent hardstand upgrade represents a long term investment in infrastructure that supports safer operations and improved outcomes for the marina community.
