36 Degrees invites Beneteau and Lagoon owners to join Harbour Classic rally weekend

Auckland’s PIC Harbour Classic will provide the backdrop for two dedicated owner rallies, bringing together Beneteau and Lagoon boats for a social weekend of sailing, cruising, and waterfront camaraderie.

36 Degrees Brokers is inviting Beneteau and Lagoon owners from around New Zealand to take part in a special owners rally during this year’s PIC Harbour Classic, one of the country’s largest and most popular on water boating events.

Taking place from Friday 20 March to Sunday 22 March, the rally will see owners gather in Auckland’s Jellicoe Harbour before joining the wider Harbour Classic fleet for a day on the water. More than 50 boats have already registered for the event, with participation from both the Beneteau monohull community and Lagoon catamaran owners continuing to grow.

The aim of the weekend is simple: bring owners together, enjoy time on the water, and connect with fellow sailors who share the same boats and cruising lifestyle.

A social rally built around the Harbour Classic

Both the Beneteau Owners Rally and the Lagoon Owners Rally will run alongside the Harbour Classic programme, allowing participants to either compete in the race or simply enjoy a relaxed cruise across the Hauraki Gulf.

The weekend begins on Friday evening with boats berthed together at Jellicoe Harbour, creating a central gathering point for owners arriving from Auckland and further afield.

At 7pm, crews will attend the official Harbour Classic briefing, followed by the Welcome Party at Wynyard Pavilion at 7:30pm, where sailors will receive final sailing instructions and course details for Saturday’s race.

Racing or cruising – the choice is yours

On Saturday morning, rally boats will depart Jellicoe Harbour around 10:00am and make their way toward the Harbour Classic start line off North Head, scheduled for 12pm.

From there, owners can choose how they want to enjoy the day.

Those keen to compete can take part in the Harbour Classic course, with Beneteau yachts racing within the monohull divisions, while Lagoon catamarans can compete in the multihull and catamaran division.

For those who prefer a more relaxed approach, the alternative is to cruise across to Motuihe Island, one of the Hauraki Gulf’s favourite anchoring spots, and enjoy the day afloat.

Motuihe Island gathering

After racing concludes, both rally fleets will regroup at Motuihe Island, where 36 Degrees will host a casual beach gathering for owners and crews.

The event will include food, drinks, and snacks, giving participants the chance to unwind, share stories from the day, and connect with other Beneteau and Lagoon owners.

From Motuihe Island, crews can either return to Jellicoe Harbour to attend the official Harbour Classic prizegiving at 5:30pm, or remain anchored at the island to continue the afternoon in a more relaxed setting.

Bringing owners together

With the Harbour Classic already attracting a large fleet, the addition of dedicated owner rallies aims to create an even stronger sense of community among the country’s Beneteau and Lagoon sailors.

By combining racing, cruising, and social events, the weekend promises to deliver a memorable experience both on and off the water.

Owners interested in participating are encouraged to register early so organisers can confirm berthing allocations, catering numbers, and Harbour Classic entries.
