Finnish boatbuilder Elvene has unveiled its latest solar electric vessel, AMY, at Nice Boating Tomorrow (March 19 to 22, 2026), presenting what it describes as one of the fastest solar electric boats currently in serial production.
Designed and built in Finland, AMY combines planing performance with energy autonomy, offering a viable alternative to combustion-powered craft for both private owners and commercial operators. The vessel is powered by a 50 kW ARIES outboard electric drive from German manufacturer Molabo, delivering a top speed of up to 30 knots.

At cruising speed, AMY achieves a range of approximately 35 nautical miles at 20 knots. At lower speeds, the vessel transitions into a fully self-sufficient operating mode, drawing energy directly from its integrated solar array. The onboard system includes a 45 kWh battery bank supported by 800 to 1300 W of solar generation, enabling what Elvene describes as “solar sailing” with effectively unlimited range at speeds up to 5 knots, depending on sunlight conditions.
Unlike conventional electric boats that rely heavily on shore-based charging infrastructure, AMY is designed to operate with a high degree of independence. Its low-voltage 48 V propulsion architecture simplifies installation, servicing, and handling, removing many of the safety and technical requirements associated with high-voltage systems.

“This boat demonstrates that solar electric propulsion is no longer limited to slow displacement speeds,” said Emil Finne, CEO of Elvene. “We are bringing together performance, usability, and energy independence in a format that works for real-world boating.”
Adrian Patzak, COO of Molabo, added: “Delivering 50 kW at 48 volts enables high performance without the complexity and cost of high-voltage systems, opening the door to scalable and user-friendly electric boats.”
The vessel is equipped with Victron energy storage technology and offers optional 3 kW shore power charging, providing flexibility across a range of operating scenarios. Designed for inshore use under CE Category C6 certification, AMY is suited to charter fleets, boat-sharing platforms, private leisure use, and tender applications.

Measuring 6.5 metres in length with a beam of 2.1 metres and a starting weight of 700 kg, AMY features a modular layout with a range of onboard amenities. Standard equipment includes a chart plotter with echo sounder, Bluetooth stereo system, wireless phone charging, and natural cork flooring, with optional upgrades such as a fridge, canopy, searchlight, and freshwater shower.
By combining planing speed with solar-assisted endurance, Elvene’s latest model addresses one of the key challenges in marine electrification: balancing speed, range, and operational simplicity. The company believes AMY opens new opportunities for electric boating in remote regions, commercial operations, and everyday recreational use.

AMY was on display throughout Nice Boating Tomorrow, where visitors were able to explore the vessel’s propulsion system, onboard energy management, and real-world performance capabilities.
