After over 50 years as a leading player in the marine business in Hawkes Bay, Firmans Marine has been sold to Taupo’s Trev Terry Marine (TT Marine).

Discussions started some time ago about plans to expand into the Hawkes Bay, and several options were considered. Given Firmans’ and TT Marine’s close and long-term working relationships, purchasing Firmans Marine was a logical fit, said TT Marine’s Brock Terry.

From 1 Nov 2022, Trev Terry Marine will take over running Firmans Marine business located at 220 Prebensen Drive, Napier, and apart from the name change it will be business as usual.

2002 | 11.31m / 37.11ft | This very well maintained four-cabin Lagoon 380 has undergone a major refit over the past three years and is in turn key condition for the next owners, with nothing more to spend. Recent major upgrades include all new sails (2022), new twin Yanmar 30hp diesel engines with only 200 hours (2022), a large solar array (2021), and new Maxwell windlass (2024).

The purchase excludes the Profile Boats manufacturing business at 24 Niven Street,  Napier, which will remain the focus for Brian Firman and his team.

Trev Terry Marine will continue to work closely with Profile Boats and to provide servicing of them.

“But the decision comes with some emotion,” said Brian “as the Firman name has been in local business for over 60 years. From service stations, to caravans and then boats, I am proud of what our family has achieved, but it is now time for the (Firman) signs to come down.

“I am incredibly grateful to the many wonderful people who have worked with us over the decades – their skills and expertise helped shape the company.”

Chris Conroy, former Trev Terry Turangi Branch Manager, will take the position as Branch Manager at Trev Terry Hawkes Bay, based in Napier.
