Due to a red weather warning for Wednesday night, the Manapouri control gates are releasing water in anticipation of heavy rainfall. As a result, Thursday’s scheduled racing on the Waiau River has been cancelled. Instead, organisers plan to race on the Mataura River, following the Friday schedule (subject to further updates).

All other race legs are still set to proceed, including tomorrow’s start on the Oreti River. The race will run from Thomsons Crossing Road to Lumsden and back, starting at 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, the delayed competition boats of Adam Wilton and Canadian World Champion Gord Humphrey, en route from the USA, cleared customs this morning. They will undergo a special technical check in Winton later tonight and are expected to join the starting field tomorrow.
