Miami, known globally as a boating mecca and the largest recreational boat market, is an ideal venue for E1’s debut in North America. The Miami GP will not only deliver adrenaline-pumping action but will also serve as a platform to advance the series’ mission of protecting and restoring coastal ecosystems through sustainable marine innovation.

A star-studded unveiling

The announcement was celebrated in true Miami fashion at a glittering event hosted by Grammy Award-winning artist and Miami resident Marc Anthony. Anthony, who co-owns Team Miami powered by Magnus, was joined by E1 CEO Rodi Basso, Chairman Alejandro Agag, and Sophi Horne, Head of Design at SeaBird Technologies.

“The E1 World Championship represents the future of powerboat racing,” said Anthony. “I’m thrilled that Miami will host this historic event, showcasing not only the excitement of electric racing but also the critical mission to protect our oceans.”

Adding to the glitz, E1’s roster of celebrity team owners also includes global icons such as actor Will Smith, NFL legend Tom Brady, and music producer Steve Aoki, further solidifying the championship’s appeal to a broad audience.

racing into a sustainable future

The E1 series represents a bold leap forward in marine racing, combining cutting-edge electric technology with a commitment to sustainability. The Miami GP will see teams racing sleek, all-electric RaceBird powerboats on Biscayne Bay, offering a zero-emissions spectacle while drawing attention to the importance of ocean conservation.

Driving this mission is the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the series’ presenting partner. PIF’s Electric 360 initiative, a collaborative effort with Formula E and Extreme E, aims to redefine electric motorsports and drive innovations in carbon reduction.

“The collaboration between E1 and PIF is about more than racing—it’s about leading the way towards a more sustainable future for our planet,” said E1 CEO Rodi Basso.

Why Miami matters

Choosing Miami for the finale was no coincidence. The city is a hub of marine activity and innovation, making it a natural fit for E1’s aspirations to expand its footprint in North America. With its vibrant boating culture and commitment to environmental stewardship, Miami offers the perfect stage for this electric showdown.
