The 2025 NZ Antique and Classic Boat Show at Lake Rotoiti, Nelson Lakes, was nothing short of spectacular. With more than 150 beautifully maintained vessels on display, the event was a celebration of craftsmanship, history, and passion for classic boating. Enthusiasts and families alike turned out in force, filling the lakeside with a continuous flow of spectators eager to admire these floating works of art.

From gleaming varnished runabouts to heritage launches, every boat told a story of meticulous restoration and a deep love for traditional boatbuilding. The stunning weather made for perfect conditions, and many of these timeless vessels weren’t just for show—owners took to the water, proving that these classics still have what it takes to carve through the waves with grace and power.

A true highlight of the weekend was Wai Manu, a stunning 80–90-year-old classic that made a triumphant return to the water after 50 years on land. Recently relaunched in late February, this piece of history now boasts a repowered ex-Devonport Naval Base flathead V8—and she runs like a dream, turning heads wherever she goes.

Whether admiring the details dockside or watching these vintage beauties in action on the lake, one thing was certain—classic boating is very much alive and thriving.
