Lowrance software update adds Recon™ Trolling Motor control and sonar enhancements

Lowrance has released a new software update for its ActiveTarget® module and a range of its high-performance displays, including HDS® PRO, HDS® LIVE, HDS® Carbon, and Elite FS® units.

A key feature of the update is full system integration with the new Lowrance Recon™ trolling motors—the brand’s latest innovation in electric motor technology. Designed for serious freshwater anglers, the Recon range is built for precision, reliability, and seamless compatibility with Lowrance electronics. It includes GPS anchoring, responsive steering, and plug-and-play connectivity with chartplotters for full touchscreen control right from the helm or bow.

Alongside motor control, the update delivers major improvements to ActiveTarget live sonar. Users will notice sharper resolution, smoother bait tracking, and enhanced fish visibility across all sonar modes—Forward, Down, and Scout—making it easier to spot and follow fish in real time.

For anyone unsure about how to get the latest update onto their system, Lowrance has produced a detailed step-by-step video guide to walk users through the process. The update is available now via the Lowrance website.
