At Boating New Zealand, we are committed to accuracy, fairness, and transparency in all our journalism — whether in print, online, or across social platforms.
We acknowledge that, despite best efforts, mistakes can occur. When they do, we take swift and transparent steps to correct them.
How we handle errors
If a factual error is identified in one of our stories — either by a reader, contributor, or staff member — our editorial team will investigate promptly.
Corrections are made as soon as the error is verified, and are noted clearly in the updated story with an editor’s note explaining the change. We do not delete or obscure errors without disclosure.
If the error is significant or materially impacts the story’s meaning, we may also:
-
Add a timestamp noting when the correction was made
-
Issue a clarification at the top or bottom of the article
-
Notify readers of the correction via our social media channels if the error was widely shared
Reporting an error
To report an error or request a correction, please email the newsroom directly at:
Please include:
-
A link to the article or publication issue
-
A brief explanation of the error
-
Any supporting material or references
We aim to review all correction requests within 3 business days.
Who reviews corrections
All correction requests are reviewed by our editorial team, independently of our advertising and commercial departments. If a correction relates to a legal or ethical matter, it may be referred to the publisher for further review.
Our editorial responsibility
We believe our readers deserve content they can trust. Our corrections process reflects that, and we welcome constructive input from our community to help us maintain the highest editorial standards.
