The E1 Series hobnobs it with the Goodwood Festival of Speed before heading into Monaco

Published

With just three rounds left, the all-electric E1 World Championship heats up as Team Brady claws back into contention after a dominant Lake Maggiore win. From a surprise London Showrun to a technology-packed stop at Goodwood Festival of Speed, E1 continues to blend innovation, inclusion, and racing. All eyes now turn to Monaco’s iconic harbour where the RaceBirds will once again face off in the battle for the 2025 title.

As the 2025 E1 World Championship reaches the business end of the season, Team Brady  stormed back into contention in June with a resounding win on Lake Maggiore—its first of the year. Pilots Emma Kimiläinen and Sam Coleman dominated proceedings in Italy, topping qualifying and controlling the final from start to finish. Their commanding performance came as several frontrunners faltered: Aoki Racing Team were disqualified, Team AlUla suffered a race-ending technical issue, and Team Drogba tangled with Team Brazil. With just three rounds left, the win rockets Team Brady to third overall—now only 21 points off the lead.

Team Rafa, co-owned by Rafael Nadal, capitalised on the mid-fleet chaos to finish second and take the overall lead. Blue Rising, one of the series’ most consistent outfits, rounded out the podium in third.

The London Showrun

After Lake Maggiore, the fleet made a brief but symbolic stop in London. The E1 London Showrun, presented by Bombay Sapphire, showcased the foiling, all-electric RaceBirds on the River Thames for the first time—right where the idea for the championship was born. With Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament as a backdrop, the showrun offered a glimpse into the future of electric marine racing and the city’s own ambitions for decarbonising the Thames. The series backed by global names like Tom Brady, Rafael Nadal, Didier Drogba and LeBron James—was broadcast to over 140 territories, giving millions a taste of electric racing’s potential.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed

E1’s technological and cultural momentum continues to build. At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the championship took centre stage in the Future Lab, where fans explored the RaceBird simulator, met pilots, and engaged in panels on STEM, gender equity in motorsport, and the environmental future of boating. Coleman and Team AlUla’s Catie Munnings discussed barriers and opportunities for women in high-performance racing. The ‘Racing Redefined’ panel brought insights from both pilots and product developers. E1’s presence at the festival reaffirmed its dual commitment to innovation and inclusion.

Next stop: Monaco

Set against the backdrop of superyachts and the shimmering Mediterranean, the upcoming E1 Monaco Grand Prix (19 July) promises Riviera glamour, and perhaps a little high drama—considering Team Drogba and Team Bazil’s entanglement in Lake Maggiore. Racing around the iconic marina, the foiling electric boats will carve a new chapter in Monaco’s long racing history. With average July temperatures pushing 32ºC, race strategy and thermal management will be critical.

Team Rafa leads the standings with 125 points, followed closely by Aoki Racing (118) and Team Brady (104). With three events remaining—Monaco, Lagos and the Miami finale—the championship is wide open. The E1 Series, with its twin focus on performance and sustainability, is fast becoming the new face of marine motorsport.
