Chandlery with Henri-Lloyd sailing gear are the official technical clothing partner for SSANZ 2025/2026 season

The Chandlery, in collaboration with Henri-Lloyd Australia, is proud to announce its official partnership with the Short-Handed Sailing Association of New Zealand (SSANZ) as the exclusive technical clothing partner for the 2025/2026 season. This includes the Lewmar Triple Series, which kicked off this month, and the highly anticipated 2026 Doyle Sails Round North Island race.

This partnership sees The Chandlery providing top-tier technical gear and exclusive merchandise for SSANZ members and race entrants, alongside prize support and pop-up activations at key events.

“It’s an absolute pleasure to welcome Henri-Lloyd by The Chandlery to the SSANZ family as an official partner for 2025/2026. Their reputation for technical excellence and commitment to quality aligns perfectly with our mission to support shorthanded sailors. This collaboration will enhance our SSANZ events with exceptional clothing for our sailors – keeping our sailors warm and dry while sharing the love of the ocean that we do” – Harri Wren, SSANZ PR & Communications

Performance gear for times when the weather is turning

SSANZ sailors don’t get to cherry-pick their conditions and neither should their kit. From the first Lewmar Triple Series race on July 12, where sailors went from blue skies to chaos in minutes, it’s clear that SSANZ events demand gear that’s built for more than just a breezy weekend. The Chandlery is backing competitors with serious gear like Henri-Lloyd’s Dynamic, Elite, Biscay, and Coastal Hi-Fit ranges, plus strategic layering essentials designed for all-day endurance in unpredictable conditions.

  • Elite Range is born out of six decades of cutting edge product and fabric development, engineered from 3-layer DRI-PRO fabric and built for extended and extreme sailing conditions to meet the demands of sailing professionals and serious enthusiasts.
    Henri-Lloyd Elite Dry Top
  • Dynamic Range sets a new standard in sailing apparel, this series combines style and functionality in a minimal, elegant and streamlined design, while providing exceptional waterproofing, breathability, freedom of movement and unrivaled performance in extreme sailing conditions.

  • Coastal Hi-Fits + Biscay Jackets is a go-to combo for inshore and coastal sailors who want technical protection and comfort during longer days at sea. The hi-fits are built for all-round protection and include optional drop-seat designs for women.

  • Layering Systems – Base layers that manage sweat and temperature, and mid-layers like the Aktiv Stretch and Smart-Therm provide warmth without weight and are essential for winter races or night shifts.

These aren’t just product lines, but solutions built around how sailors move and what they go through, from 60-nautical-mile sprints to full-on circumnavigation legs.

“When you are offshore you cannot just nip into the local and grab another jacket/warm layer, you need to leave the dock with the correct gear for the conditions. A sailing kit should include warmth and protection layers suitable for the time and conditions you may (not wish for) encounter. Plan the gear for the worst possible conditions and you will be warm, happy and able to perform in any conditions experienced.” – Warren Haslip, CEO of The Chandlery

Merch that travels beyond the dock

In addition to supplying high-performance sailing gear, The Chandlery has launched a collection of custom-branded merchandise. These are functional pieces sailors can wear from briefing to prizegiving and beyond, made for comfort, longevity, and understated race-day pride.

The collection includes:

  • Dri Fast Polo – moisture-wicking, quick-dry polos with UV protection, made from recycled polyester and ideal for warm-weather wear or layered under jackets.
  • Dri Fast Tee (SS + LS) – perfect base layers with odour control, UV protection and race-ready performance that doesn’t look out of place at the bar.
  • Breeze Jacket – lightweight, windproof, water-resistant shells with a mesh lining – designed to handle spray on the rail or rain in the city streets.

Each piece is available with event-specific logos (SSANZ, Lewmar Triple Series, or Doyle Sails RNI2026) for sailors and supporters alike, whether you’re racing or showing up for the next club night.

Whilst The Chandlery is providing exclusive discount to SSANZ members and registered racers, some items are added to the overall prize pool, for example a limited-edition early bird prize pack for RNI 2026 includes two custom Breeze jackets (with SSANZ, RNI2026 and team logo), plus some goodies from Doyle Sails, with winners drawn from those who register by August 1.

More than a logo – a shared approach to racing

With 114 boats in the Lewmar Triple Series and growing interest in Doyle Sails RNI 2026 (currently at 19 boats, aiming for 40), SSANZ continues to attract sailors looking for tough races and a strong, supportive community.

This partnership is The Chandlery’s way of contributing to that. It’s not just branding, it’s prize support, access to technical gear and being present at the events when possible. Warren has raced the Triple Series himself in the past, and Evita has spent enough time on the other side of the event organization, to know how important it is to back events that are run by volunteers and powered by passion.

“We’re not a big corporate retailer, but a couple based in the Bay of Islands who believe in the gear we sell because we know what it’s like to need it. We want more Kiwi sailors to experience the quality and comfort Henri-Lloyd gear offers, so they can stay out there longer, feel more confident (and comfortable), and keep showing up for the kind of racing it’s intended to be.” – Evita Zarina, The Chandlery’s brand and partnerships lead

The Chandlery

Proud to be the sole New Zealand reseller of Henri-Lloyd. Based in Russell, Bay of Islands, we are here to outfit serious boaties, offshore sailors and cruisers with gear that just works. Founded by commercial skipper and marine electronics specialist Warren Haslip, we only stock and sell what we’d use ourselves – from world-class sailing apparel to power systems and marine electronics. No fluff, just the good stuff.

Henri-Lloyd

Established in Manchester, England June 1963, Henri-Lloyd stands as a testament to the pioneering spirit of its founder, Henri Strzelecki MBE. With a steadfast commitment to challenge conventions, “Mr Henri” (as he became known, on account that people struggled to pronounce his surname) revolutionised protective, waterproof clothing, and today the brand remains at the vanguard of responsibly produced waterproof apparel that protect against the harshest of conditions whilst striving to reduce its impact on the environment.

Based upon Mr Henri’s hard-fought principles of honesty, integrity and innovation. Henri-Lloyd appeals to individuals who are relentless in their pursuit of excellence and who refuse to settle for the ordinary. For over six decades, the brand has enabled remarkable people to explore the unknown and achieve remarkable feats. Henri-Lloyd’s revered heritage is marked by innovations which have since become industry norms, from the hand taping of seams, to the creation of a non-corrosive nylon zip and the use of velcro on clothing, to name but a few.
