ZeroJet and AB Inflatables launch electric-powered Lammina AL RIB

ZeroJet’s compact tiller-steer jet drive meets AB’s proven aluminium hulls in a new electric tender for the cruising market.

New Zealand electric propulsion specialist ZeroJet has joined forces with AB Inflatables to create an all-in-one electric tender package. The collaboration marries AB’s lightweight Lammina AL RIB with ZeroJet’s integrated Gen-3 tiller steer jet drive, producing a versatile and cost-effective option for the cruising market.

At the heart of the new Lammina AL package is ZeroJet’s latest propulsion system: a 15kW electric jet producing performance comparable to a 20hp outboard. The drive is paired with two 2.7kWh semi-solid state LiPo4 batteries, chosen for their stability and safety. The 48V dual-pack system is designed with redundancy in mind, giving owners reassurance on longer trips.

The 11 AL model, including jet and batteries, weighs just 180kg. Range extends up to 26 nautical miles, with cruising extended beyond 20NM at 12 knots by fitting additional battery packs. For many cruisers, this provides more than enough versatility for runs to shore, exploring coastlines, or transporting people and gear.

One of the standout features is the fully concealed jet unit. With no exposed propeller, the design improves safety for swimmers and allows effortless operation in shallow water. This opens up more cruising grounds, beaches, and anchorages for users.

The tiller steer arrangement maximises deck space while offering intuitive handling. Meanwhile, the layout frees up the forward locker for storage, adding to the RIB’s practicality.

A key selling point is simplicity. With no service required over the first three years, and a warranty covering both jet and battery for that period, the Lammina AL package reduces ongoing costs and maintenance stress. For cruisers who value reliability and freedom from petrol, this electric RIB provides a straightforward alternative.

The ZeroJet-powered Lammina AL will be available through authorised AB Inflatables and ZeroJet dealers before the end of 2025. The launch will begin in the US and Europe, with plans to expand to Australia and New Zealand thereafter.

For the cruising market, it represents more than just another RIB. It’s a new way of thinking about tender design: efficient, safe, quiet, and simple to own.
