Family-friendly design meets Kiwi summer boating culture.

Sea Ray’s summer duo at Sports Marine

Sports Marine is shining a light on two standouts from Sea Ray’s bowrider line-up — the SPX 190 and SPX 210 — ahead of the coming summer. Long a favourite among Kiwi boaties, Sea Ray’s SPX series blends practical design with the polished feel the brand has built over more than 40 years in New Zealand.

With more than 2,000 Sea Rays sold nationwide, the SPX range reflects a clear formula: efficient hulls, family-friendly layouts, and reliable propulsion. These are boats designed to be enjoyed, not just admired — equally suited to a day on the harbour, water sports behind the transom, or a relaxed cruise up the coast.

SPX 190 – nimble and uncomplicated

At 5.97 metres, the SPX 190 is compact, lively, and easy to handle — the kind of boat that encourages spontaneous use. Seating for ten makes it a capable small-group cruiser, while storage and layout details feel well-considered rather than crowded.

SPX 210 – refined and roomy

Stretching to 6.55 metres for up to 12 people, the SPX 210 keeps the same sense of sportiness while adding space and a few comfort upgrades. A deep freeboard provides reassurance in choppy water, while the extended cockpit and wraparound seating give it a relaxed social feel.

Buyers can choose between sterndrive or outboard configurations, both around the 250 hp mark. The outboard version gains a wake tower and enhanced stereo — practical touches for those who enjoy watersports or like a soundtrack underway.

A continuation of a Kiwi favourite

Sports Marine expects new stock of both SPX models to arrive before summer, reinforcing a relationship that has seen Sea Ray become one of New Zealand’s most recognised names in fibreglass runabouts.

As with many Sea Rays before them, the SPX 190 and SPX 210 aren’t trying to reinvent boating — they’re refining what already works: good balance, honest performance, and the simple joy of being on the water.
