Oceanflo Desalination welcomes new partners to support next growth phase

New Zealand marine watermaker specialist Oceanflo Desalination has entered an exciting new phase of growth, with founder Chris Dent joined by industry figures Ross Pratt and Chris Pratt, who have purchased a stake in the business.

Founded by Dent, Oceanflo Desalination was born from years of hands-on experience as a superyacht engineer and machinist. That background has shaped the company’s reputation for designing and manufacturing advanced desalination systems built specifically for real-world marine use, where reliability, serviceability, and long-term performance matter most.

The addition of Ross Pratt and Chris Pratt brings significant marine industry experience to the business. Ross Pratt is best known as a co-founder and director of BEP Marine and the founder of RAILBLAZA, while Chris Pratt brings a strong background in product design and operations through his work with RAILBLAZA.

Together, the expanded ownership group combines deep technical expertise with proven experience in scaling marine brands, product development, and customer-focused innovation. The partnership is intended to support Oceanflo’s growth ambitions, strengthen production capability, and expand into new markets, while maintaining the hands-on service and engineering-led approach the company is known for.

“This is a natural next step for Oceanflo,” said founder Chris Dent. “Having partners who understand both the marine industry and the realities of building and supporting products on the water puts us in a strong position to grow, without compromising what makes our systems work for boat owners.”

With increasing demand for reliable onboard freshwater solutions across cruising, commercial, and specialist marine sectors, Oceanflo Desalination is now positioned to scale its operations while continuing to design and manufacture high-quality New Zealand-engineered desalination systems.
