Firecrown reportedly shutters Yachts International and Anglers Journal

It seems that Firecrown Media may have shut down two long-running marine titles, Yachts International and Anglers Journal.

Neither closure has been formally announced, and the changes are not reflected on Firecrown’s public websites. Anglers Journal closure has been confirmed in chat groups, where subscribers have been told that the magazine is no longer in publication and the remainder of their subscription will be replace by Saltwater Sportsman. We are awaiting confirmation of Yachts International closure. Both magazines were part of a wider group of titles acquired from Active Interest Media roughly a year ago.

Yachts International served the luxury end of the market, offering large yacht owners and enthusiasts coverage spanning new launches, design trends, industry personalities, regulatory issues, charter opportunities, and global cruising destinations. The magazine positioned itself as a bridge between print, digital platforms, and exclusive owner experiences at major boat shows, aiming to deliver an insider’s view of the American yachting world.

Anglers Journal, launched in 2014, took a markedly different approach to fishing media. Founded by veteran editor Bill Sisson, the magazine set out to create “the magazine you want to read,” favouring literary storytelling, strong photography, and authentic voices over conventional how-to coverage. Its pages celebrated fishing culture in all its forms, from bluegill to blue marlin, with grit, honesty, and craft at the core.

Over its decade-long run, Anglers Journal earned a loyal readership and multiple industry awards, becoming widely regarded as a premium outlier within recreational fishing publishing.

Last year it was reported that Firecrown Media owned 14 of America’s leading boating magazines including: Anglers Journal, Boater’s University, Boating, Saltwater Sportsman, SFTV (Sports Fishing Television), Skinny Water, Cruising World, Passagemaker, Power & Motoryacht, Soundings, Sport Fishing, Soundings Trade Only, SAIL, Sailing World, Helly Hanson Sailing World Regatta Series, The Travelling Angler, Trawlerfest, United States Coastguard Boating Safety, Yachting, Yachts International, Wakeboarding
