Where Excess is built

Written by

The Excess Catamarans Factory Tours are returning to the brand’s home in Poiré-sur-Vie this March, offering a rare look behind the scenes of how its performance cruising catamarans are built.

Taking place on 20 and 21 March 2026, the Factory Tours invite visitors inside the Vendée production site where every Excess catamaran begins life. From the first stages of moulding through to final assembly and quality control, the tour traces the full production journey and highlights the craftsmanship and processes that underpin the range.

Guests will follow the major construction steps up close, gaining a clear understanding of how design ideas become finished boats ready for the water. Just as importantly, the experience puts faces to the process, with opportunities to meet the teams and partners who imagine, shape, and assemble each catamaran.

The programme also includes guided discovery of key models in the line-up, including the Excess 11, Excess 13, and Excess 14, providing context around how each design is executed on the factory floor.
