World Sailing opens 2026 Performance Coach Scholarship applications

World Sailing has opened applications for its 2026 Performance Coach Scholarship Programme, offering 10 places on a 12-month training pathway for coaches working at national level with youth and adult athletes transitioning to international competition.

The programme runs a four-week residential block from 21 September to 17 October 2026 at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, delivered with the Andrew Simpson Performance Academy. Two online modules of four sessions each and project mentoring round out the curriculum.

Applications close 25 June, with successful candidates confirmed by 3 July.

The scholarship targets coaches supporting sailors moving into international competition. Member National Authorities must first secure World Sailing selection, then work with their National Olympic Committees to complete formal Olympic Solidarity applications.

“We are looking for dedicated coaches who are ready to elevate their skills and guide their nations’ sailors onto the international stage,” said Fiona Kidd, World Sailing’s Head of International Development. “Ten spots is a small number, and we expect stiff competition. All Member National Authorities should get in touch with their National Olympic Committees as soon as possible.”

The cohort is limited to 10 participants. Participation requires visa approval and National Olympic Committee support for travel costs.

Applications are available through World Sailing’s website.
