Hamilton Island Race Week 2026 Opens Ticket Sales as Fleet Tops 170 Entries

Hamilton Island Race Week has opened ticket sales for 2026 and revealed this year's social program, with entries already past the 170 mark for Australia's premier offshore regatta.

The event, now in its 41st year, returns to the Whitsundays from 15-22 August, bringing together world-class racing, top chefs, Olympic athletes, and a run of lifestyle events against the backdrop of the Great Barrier Reef. The fleet spans everything from serious offshore racers to first-timers out for social sailing.

A fleet built on contrasts

This year’s entries highlight just how wide the field has become. Wild Thing 100, the 100-foot maxi co-owned by Grant Wharington and Adrian Seiffert, will line up against boats like Aquila, a 6.9-meter Sonata 7, a size gap that says something about the regatta’s pull across the sport.

Hong Kong yachtsman Karl Kwok adds further international depth, bringing Beau Ideal to the Super 40 division.

Hamilton Island Chief Operating Officer Renae Trimble said the early entry numbers reflect the event’s ongoing draw.

“Hamilton Island Race Week continues to attract sailors, spectators, and holidaymakers from across Australia and around the world,” she said. “With more than 170 boats already entered and tickets to the onshore program now on sale, we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Hamilton Island for another memorable Race Week this August.”

On land as much as on the water

Racing remains the heart of the event, but Race Week has grown into one of Australia’s bigger sporting and lifestyle drawcards, with a week of dining and entertainment built around it. The 2026 program includes:

  • A long lunch with chefs Josh Niland and Khanh Ong, presented by American Express, at Niland’s Catseye Pool Club
  • A conversation with Olympic silver medallist Olivia Price and America’s Cup sailor Cole Tapper at Bommie Restaurant
  • The Kylie Minogue Wines Garden Party at Beach Pavilion
  • The Tanqueray Supper Club at Romano’s
  • The Race Day Long Lunch on the Keel Deck
  • Spectator cruises aboard the superyacht Rascal

New names on the sponsor list

American Express returns as Presenting Partner, with several new names joining the lineup: Volvo Cars as Official Automotive Partner, Ahoy Club as Official Superyacht Partner, plus Saya Skincare and Kylie Minogue Wines.

Volvo will have two of its flagship electric models on hand for guest transfers and on display at the Marina precinct, part of what it calls its push toward sustainable luxury motoring.

Ahoy Club’s involvement runs deeper than branding; the superyacht specialist is supplying Rascal for the event’s spectator cruises, giving guests a vantage point over the racing in Dent Passage and around the Whitsundays.

American Express Vice President of Brand, Marketing and Member Experience Naysla Edwards said the event’s mix of sailing and lifestyle is what keeps the brand coming back. “Hamilton Island Race Week combines sailing, travel, dining, and entertainment in a way few Australian events can. We’re proud to return as Presenting Partner and look forward to creating memorable experiences for our Card Members throughout the week.”
