Canoe Racing New Zealand is building a stronger selection framework. The national body is recruiting an additional selector to oversee team picks for Open and Age Group competition, signalling confidence in the sport’s depth and ambition across multiple tiers.
The role reflects CRNZ’s commitment to rigorous, evidence-based decision-making at selection panels. Candidates will need to bring high performance experience, whether from sprint kayaking itself or other elite sports environments where their judgment can strengthen overall panel capability. What matters most, CRNZ says, is appointing the best person for the job rather than ticking boxes.
CRNZ is looking for people comfortable working alongside other selectors and staff, with the integrity to manage sensitive information and the confidence to argue their corner in a panel setting. Experience in canoe sprint is valued but not required—selectors from aligned high performance environments are welcome to apply.
The successful candidate will engage across key selection points during the season: reviewing performance data, attending selection meetings, and working through alignment discussions with other panellists and CRNZ staff.
Interested candidates should send a CV and expression of interest letter to graham@crnz.org by 31 July 2026. The letter should outline relevant experience and explain why you’re suited to the role.
