The original Hanse 461 was built in 2005. This new version, to be publicly unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival, 8–13 September 2026, is best described as a refinement of the 460 rather than a clean-sheet redesign, retaining the same basic hull and core dimensions, with changes concentrated in the cockpit, sail plan and interior layout, again by Berret-Racoupeau.
Like other current Hanse models, the 461 uses the builder’s Easy Sailing Concept. Every essential control line runs back to a single set of winches at the helm, and a self-tacking jib is fitted as standard, aimed at owners sailing shorthanded. Twin wheels give clear sightlines forward on either tack, and the mainsheet is positioned on the coachroof rather than across the cockpit. Electric furling and secondary electric winches are available as options.
Hanse has paired that handling arrangement with a tall rig and generous sail area, along with a choice of keel configurations so owners can match the boat to their cruising area. The sail plan includes a 60.3 square metre mainsail and a 42 square metre self-tacking jib, and a staysail, reacher or gennaker can be added for a wider wind range.
The main change at the stern is what Hanse calls its Beach Club. It combines an enlarged swim platform with aft lounge seating. A wet bar can be fitted with an electric or gas barbecue, and a fixed GRP hardtop or a range of canopy options are available for shade and weather protection.
Below deck, four large saloon hatches and 26 ventilation openings provide light and air. Buyers can choose between a single master cabin built around an island berth or two separate forward cabins. Saloon, galley, guest cabin and storage configurations can be tailored to family cruising, longer journeys or charter use, as specified by Hanse, and a range of timber, floorboard, fabric and upholstery finishes is offered.
The 461 measures 14.60 metres length overall, 13.87 metres hull length and 13.05 metres on the waterline, with a beam of 4.79 metres and draft of 2.25 metres. Displacement is 12.60 tonnes. Auxiliary power comes from a 57hp standard engine, with an 80hp option, and tankage runs to 200 litres of fuel and 450 litres of fresh water.
