Tudor Team Alinghi rolls into Naples in style
After a successful training camp, Tudor Team Alinghi has announced its crew for the second preliminary regatta in Naples. This morning, the four selected sailors arrived in style at their base in Nisida.
With broad smiles and high spirits, Paul Goodison (GBR), Skipper and Starboard Helm; Phil Robertson (NZL), Port Helm; Nicolas Rolaz (SUI), Starboard Trimmer; and Pietro Sibello (ITA), Port Trimmer, rode in on Italian Vespas and made their way to the Base in Nisida, clearly enjoying the moment.
The Tudor Team Alinghi crew will be the same as for the first pre-regatta in Cagliari. They will be sailing the Swiss AC40 boat optimised since Sardinia and featuring new sails.
They will compete in the Gulf of Naples for the first time, which Nicolas Rolaz, the Starboard Trimmer, describes as “very demanding.” His fellow trimmer, Pietro Sibello, agrees, saying: “The Gulf of Naples has been quite impressive in terms of consistency. Every day we’ve been here, the wind has been reliable, and we’ve been able to sail. Depending on the precise direction of the sea breeze, the top right of the course, closer to the shore, can change from day to day and even within a single day.
Now the four sailors switch into competition mode, maintaining focus and concentration.
