2026 marks a milestone for Lou Ratu, who celebrates 30 years in marina security.
Lou began her career with TSS Security in 1996 at Westhaven Marina, where she became known among the marina’s 1,400 berth holders for her professionalism, dedication, and commitment to the community. In 2006, she joined Orakei Marina and has since become a highly valued member of the Orakei Marine team, helping keep the marina safe and secure.
Widely recognised for her vigilance and exceptional memory, Lou played a key role in reducing theft at Westhaven Marina to almost zero and remains a familiar presence around Orakei Marina, often patrolling by bicycle and checking on berth holders and their vessels.
Her service has earned several honours, including the Auckland City District Commander’s Certificate of Appreciation in 2022 and the Auckland Rotary Club’s Outstanding Person Award in 2010.
As one berth holder noted, “Orakei Marina is truly her life and family. She treats every vessel as if it were her own and is warmly regarded across the marina community.”
After three decades of outstanding service, Lou shows no signs of slowing down. We thank her for her unwavering commitment, passion, and care, and wish her many more happy years at Orakei Marina.
