Thirteen years after she was launched from Alloy Yachts in Henderson, the 43.9-metre Dubois sloop Encore has spent six months at Orams with many of her original builders back on the tools. Now she’s on the market.
The project manager who oversaw her build was part of the team at Orams, and so were a number of the tradespeople who worked on her the first time round. Refits rarely come with that kind of provenance.
Paul MacDonald of McD Yachts has the listing, with an asking price of EUR 17,210,000. “Although it’s 13 years old, it’s like new condition right now,” he says.
At just under 44-metre, or about 144-feet, she clears the 24-metre superyacht threshold almost twice over.

Encore superyacht: family cruising, never chartered
Alloy Yachts and Dubois Naval Architects go back a long way. MacDonald stops short of calling it a partnership, but the Henderson yard built a good number of Dubois designs, and Encore was one of the last boats it launched.
The owner has kept her strictly for family and close friends, and she has never been offered for charter. Her original captain and crew have maintained her since delivery.
The main engine had 5,370 hours on it in August 2026, light running for a yacht of this size and age. “For its age, it’s a very low use vessel,” says MacDonald.

Encore superyacht refit at Orams Marine in Auckland
Encore came home for this one. She spent around six months at Orams Marine, and in MacDonald’s view the smartest decision was bringing back former Alloy Yachts people, from the project manager who ran the original build to the tradespeople on the tools.
“It’s been well cared for, and then refitted with the same guys that built it originally, which is a pretty good thing,” he says.
The rig came out for its 10-year service. Rig Pro and Southern Spars inspected, serviced and rejacketed the EC6 carbon standing rigging, Maffioli in Italy supplied all-new running rigging, and the Doyle sails, only a year old, were serviced.
Aquatic Spraycoating repainted the hull, superstructure, mast and boom in Awlgrip Matterhorn White, and the teak decks were re-seamed and sanded.

Underneath, she went through a full ABS survey. The hull was gauged and the welds inspected, new anodes went on, and every Keystone through-hull valve came out to be pressure tested and rebuilt. The shaft and propeller were pulled and checked, new cutlass bearings were fitted, and the rudder and steering were stripped, inspected and rebuilt.
In the engine room, both Northern Lights generators had top-end rebuilds, and the main engine and gensets got new exhaust mixers. The Hundested variable-pitch unit was serviced and given a new Bowman cooler. City Rewinds rewound every three-phase motor on board and fitted new bearings.

Then came the electronics. ATTEST replaced the SeaTouch monitoring system and its screens, ENL fitted a new gyro and renewed the radar magnetrons, and DM Marine Electronics loaded TimeZero onto new Lenovo navigation PCs.
AVID Automation took care of connectivity and entertainment. There’s now dual Gen3 Starlink with Peplink control, running over a Ruckus network and fibre-optic backbone, and a Crestron AV system run from iPad minis. Wave Electrical Systems switched the lighting to LED and serviced the air conditioning.
Custom Marine Canvas made new cockpit clears, shade screens, covers and upholstery, and replaced the interior headliners. The watermakers got new membranes and the safety gear was renewed. With her ABS A1 class and Cook Islands flag code completed, the job was signed off in August 2026.

Sailing performance, engine and cruising range
Encore carries a 60-metre five-spreader Southern Spars carbon mast and carbon boom, with Future Fibres EC6 standing rigging. Reckmann hydraulic furlers look after the reacher, staysail and blade, and there are four custom Alloy AY-400 winches.
Her Doyle Stratis wardrobe went aboard in 2025: reacher, blade, staysail, fully battened main and a nylon gennaker for off the breeze. Beam is 9.7-metres, and with 4.3-metres of draft you’ll be picking anchorages with some care.

Under power, an 876 hp Caterpillar C18 turns a Hundested variable-pitch prop. She’ll cruise at 12-knots on 50 to 55 litres an hour and run to about 15-knots flat out. With 24,000-litres in the tanks she has a range of around 4,000-nm at 10 to 12 knots, and twin Matrix watermakers make 1,200-gallons a day.
Twin wheels frame a cockpit made for long lunches. There’s U-shaped seating down each side, a fixed dining table to starboard and a table to port that drops to coffee height. Strata Glass panels or mesh screens go in when the weather turns or the sun gets too much.
A hydraulic boarding stair folds away into the port side of the hull, alongside a telescopic passerelle. The tender is a 5.5-metre Zodiac Medline with a Yamaha F115, and a Bauer compressor and four tanks look after the diving.

Inside Encore: guest cabins and owner’s suite
The interior, designed by Alloy Yachts with the owner, is unashamedly traditional. Think dark timber panelling, oil paintings on the bulkheads and big overhead glazing in the saloons. Four cabins sleep eight to 10 guests, with six crew forward.
The owner’s suite runs the full width of the boat aft. It has a separate bathroom, his and hers wardrobes, a full-size desk and a two-seater sofa facing a wall-mounted TV that adjusts for different viewing angles. Next door is a private sitting room with an office, its own bar, a sofa and an armchair.

Forward of the guest lobby are two queen cabins with leather-finished desks and their own ensuites, and the port one has a concealed Pullman berth. A twin to starboard has a second Pullman and an ensuite that doubles as the day head.
In the upper saloon, the seating to starboard is raised so you can see out through 180 degrees of tinted glass. Lift the leaves and the table seats 10. Wine drawers for 38 bottles, a TV on a telescopic lift and a chart table with access to the ship’s systems are all tucked away, and the bar has a three-door custom fridge and a Hoshizaki ice maker.

One level down, the lower saloon is the formal dining room. There’s an antique table for eight, a built-in display for Villeroy & Boch crystal and Wedgwood china, and a Ralph Lauren sofa and ottoman, with another TV that rises out of the joinery.
The captain’s cabin and two twin crew cabins each have an ensuite, and the crew mess sits beside the galley. The galley is all Miele, with induction and radiant cooktops, a salamander, two convection ovens and a commercial dishwasher, backed up by a 2,000 litre under-sole freezer. The laundry runs two Miele washers and two dryers.
