Introducing Mercury’s all-new Smart Tow Surf system, a fully customised surf, wake and ski user interface that creates a factory-integrated surf solution, combining engine data, left and right wave shaping, ballast management, digital switching and C-Zone technology together through one intuitive helm experience.
Designed specifically for tow sport boats, Smart Tow Surf puts the controls and information boaters need most at their fingertips, making it easy to customise the experience whether surfing, skiing, wakeboarding or enjoying any other tow sport activity.
A dedicated full-screen interface keeps critical vessel information including speed, water depth and fuel level, clearly visible regardless of which function is being used.
The system is now available on MerCruiser T6200 and T8200 Tow Sport Inboards and is offered as a standard option on the MerCruiser 8.2L.
“Mercury Smart Tow Surf turns tow sports into a seamless, highly customisable experience with dedicated full-screen controls, preset profiles, and integrated ballast and surf management,” Mercury Marine MerCruiser Product Manager ANZP Muni Kuppuswamy said.
“The result is a more connected, intuitive and personalised on-water experience, giving boaters greater control over how their boat performs and how they spend their time on the water.
“For sport enthusiasts the Smart Tow Surf creates the perfect waves at the push of a button, with the ability to store custom profiles, control ballast effortlessly and switch between surf, wake and ski modes instantly.”
The Smart Tow Surf system features three modes – Surf, Wakeboard and Ski/Tube.
Surf Mode lets riders choose their preferred surf side, set speed and launch intensity, and shape the wave to suit their style.
Wakeboard Mode is designed with specific target speed ramps and launch control settings to help create the ideal wakeboard setup.
Ski/Tube Mode is tailored for higher-speed tow sports, offering dedicated high-speed ramp profiles and customisable launch settings.

As part of the SmartCraft Tow Surf system, it features ballast and tabs that can be controlled independently, giving drivers the flexibility to fine-tune waves.
The Ballast Management system allows the driver to control up to three hard ballast tanks through dedicated pumps, as well as induvial pump control featuring presets – Fill All, Empty All and Stop All presets. The centre tab can also be adjusted directly using the Trim switch, while the left and right tabs automatically retract once the boat exceeds 30KM/H.

With a custom graphical interface powered by C-Zone, your entire boating experience is simplified, streamlined and elevated so you can focus on what matters most – enjoying the water.
Complete lighting control is right in front of you with C-Zone digital technology including exterior lights, interior lights, dock lights, navigation, and anchor lights, along with audio controls conveniently integrated, so your soundtrack is never more than a tap away.
Smart Tow Surf also features a customisable multiscreen display, allowing users to configure their preferred helm view alongside the system’s controls.
“Our MerCruiser Tow Sport inboard are designed for high-action water sports, they deliver effortless torque and precise speed control for peak performance,” Muni said.
“They’re carefully tuned and balanced for smooth, quiet performance, with efficiency-enhancing features that keep you on the water longer and get tow boats up on plane quickly.”
