Rutgerson Marin AB celebrates 50 years: From pioneering innovation to global presence

Written by

This year, Rutgerson Marin AB proudly celebrates 50 years as a Swedish manufacturer of marine hardware and boat fittings. Since it was founded in 1976, the company has developed and manufactured innovative products in Marstrand, Sweden, with a strong focus on quality, functionality, and user-friendly design.

Rutgerson Marin was founded by sailor and engineer Göran Rutgerson following the invention of the Super Ring, a revolutionary sail ring that transformed the sailmaking industry. This innovation became the starting point of a company that, for five decades, has continued to develop smart and reliable solutions for the challenges of life at sea.

From that first product, the company has steadily expanded its portfolio and today offers more than 1,000 products, including sail hardware, deck hardware, portlights, and hatches. Rutgerson products are distributed to customers in more than 40 countries worldwide.

The company’s motto, “Best in Action,” reflects its commitment to creating smart, user-friendly products that deliver reliable performance in demanding marine environments.

“Celebrating 50 years is a proud milestone for everyone at Rutgerson,” says Charlotte Rutgerson, CEO of Rutgerson Marin AB. “Our history has been shaped by curiosity, practical engineering, and a close connection to life at sea. These values remain central as we continue to develop solutions for the future of boating.”

Half a century after the launch of the Super Ring, Rutgerson Marin remains firmly rooted in Marstrand while serving customers around the world. The company enters its next chapter with a clear ambition: to keep turning experience and new ideas into marine products that make a real difference on the water.
