The namePanekacarries Slavic roots tied toyouth and craftsmanship—and never has a name been more perfectly earned. This1978 Young 43, drawn by the legendaryJim Young, has been reborn in the hands of a true modern master craftsman:Roy Davies. What now stands before you is not merely a classic yacht preserved—but a timeless design elevated, refined, and perfected.
Roy Davies’ workmanship is quite simplynext level. His obsession with detail, proportion, and function is evident everywhere you look. Nothing has been done for novelty; every change has been carefully considered to improve handling, comfort, and longevity—while respecting the soul of the Young 43.
The rig has been intelligently reimagined. The mast, once keel-stepped, has been moved aft by 450mm and converted to adeck-stepped configuration, reducing mainsail size and transforming sail handling into a far more manageable, user-friendly experience. The traveller has been relocated out of the cockpit and onto the top of the hard dodger—freeing space, improving safety, and delivering a cleaner, more purposeful cockpit layout.
Helm ergonomics have been enhanced with alarger-diameter steering wheel, allowing more relaxed, confident control—comfortably within reach, exactly where it should be. A beautifully craftedwalk-through transomwith a generous boarding platform has been seamlessly integrated, blending modern usability with classic lines—an upgrade that looks as though it was always meant to be there. Below decks, the transformation continues.
From the saloon bulkhead forward, the interior isentirely new—a superbly executed fitout featuring new heads and a warm, inviting forward double berth. This is craftsmanship you don’t just see—youfeelit. Every surface, joint, and finish speaks of patience, pride, and mastery.
This is not just another Young 43.
