Boating New Zealand is a small, independent media organisation with a full-time and part-time team of approximately 10 people, supported by a wider network of contributors. While we are not required to publish a diversity staffing report, we believe in transparency and are proud to outline the composition of our team.
Our core group is evenly balanced in gender, with a 50/50 male-female split. We are a tight-knit team, with clearly defined roles across the business, sharing evenly between our Management and Accounting, Editorial, and Subscriptions teams.
Boating New Zealand also works with freelance writers, photographers, and creatives from across Aotearoa. While we do not collect detailed demographic data from our freelance network, we remain committed to showcasing a diversity of perspectives, regions, and voices from across New Zealand’s boating community.
As a small team, we focus on inclusive hiring practices where possible and ensure that our editorial reflects the breadth of boating life in New Zealand — from coastal communities and Māori-owned charter operations to international yacht racing and regional marine industry stories.
We are committed to fair representation, equal opportunity, and promoting a marine industry that welcomes all.
