Mertek S1 Jetboard

The Mertek S1 electric-powered jetboard that debuted at this year’s Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show will be available to consumers this month. The jetboard reaches a maximum speed of just over 40kph with a runtime of 20 minutes at full speed or one hour at half speed. A 960Wh lithium battery powers the direct-drive electric motor.

“The inflatable board maintains positive buoyancy, so it’s incredibly stable when getting on and taking off, making it great for beginners,” says Matt Kelly, who demonstrated the board at the boat show, The 2.4m Mertek S1 board can fold to around 1/3 of its full size, so it’s easy to transport and store.

A wireless remote-control offers eight speeds, including emergency stop, and safety features include a coiled leg rope and overboard protection kill switch.
