Cortex wins NMEA & IBEX Awards

Vesper Marine’s innovative new Cortex VHF-AIS unit has received two of the marine industry’s most prestigious international awards: the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA)’s Best New Product Award and the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition (IBEX) Innovation Award for safety equipment.

The world’s first marine VHF with wireless touchscreen handsets, built-in Class B/SOTDMA AIS transponder and remote vessel monitoring, Cortex alerts boaties about potential collision risks, provides key information about the situation and makes it easy to communicate using VHF, DSC and AIS.

“Cortex’s clever touchscreen handset simplifies even sometimes complicated functions and is incredibly easy to master,” says Silke Sigley, from Vesper Marine New Zealand distributor Lusty & Blundell. “Cortex also combines navigation and sensor data with intelligent alarms to prioritise voice alerts on wireless handsets or a connected speaker — and its built-in AIS transponder makes the boat visible to other vessels.”

With a free cellular connection, Cortex provides plug and play remote monitoring for battery state, bilge high water and more, while a subscription enables real-time views, alerts and remote control of onboard devices like refrigeration or air conditioning.

Providing still more peace of mind, skippers can receive Anchor Watch alarms not only while on board and even when ashore, using a smartphone app.
