American Magic Triumphs in Final Race, Defeats Defenders Team NZ

American Magic clinched victory in their final race, demonstrating exceptional performance and strategic superiority against Team NZ, who had entered the race with an unblemished record.

Both teams encountered a difficult start as they carefully navigated the line to avoid crossing too early. American Magic quickly established a lead, pulling ahead of Team NZ by 150 metres as they approached the first gate. Despite a valiant effort from the Kiwi crew to close the gap, they were still 200 metres behind by the time they rounded the initial gate.

American Magic’s dominance continued as they navigated the second gate, further extending their lead. By the halfway point, the USA team had built a commanding 500-metre advantage. The differences in boat performance and tactical decision-making were evident, with American Magic’s superior sailing skills becoming increasingly apparent.

As the race unfolded, American Magic maintained a smooth and strategic approach, effectively managing the rough conditions. They went through the final gates with apparent ease, finishing with a time of 23 minutes and 10 seconds. Team NZ crossed the finish line 23 seconds later, marking their first loss in this competition.
