In a world where luxury knows no bounds, the yachting industry has just launched an extraordinary new concept that promises to redefine living at sea. ULYSSIA, a 320-metre residential yacht, is set to sail the globe, offering its residents an exclusive, fully serviced lifestyle while travelling to some of the most iconic and remote locations on the planet.

From its sleek design to its cutting-edge technology, ULYSSIA isn’t just a yacht—it’s a floating community of like-minded individuals seeking adventure, luxury, and purpose. This ambitious project brings together expertise from the maritime and hospitality industries to create a one-of-a-kind experience for its residents, combining comfort, sustainability, and an opportunity to give back to the world.

The ULYSSIA Vision: A Life Without Boundaries

Designed by the renowned superyacht architect Espen Øino and spearheaded by Swiss entrepreneur Frank Binder, ULYSSIA is not just a yacht, it’s a new way of living. At 320 metres, it dwarfs most other vessels, housing 132 private residences and 22 guest suites. Each home aboard ULYSSIA offers expansive sea views and world-class amenities that rival the finest luxury resorts. However, what truly sets ULYSSIA apart is its ability to travel the world, all while its residents remain in the comfort of their personal sanctuaries.

Speaking about the project, Binder, who is also the founder and chairman of ULYSSIA Residences AG, said: “The vision is that of a unique lifestyle on a residential yacht that travels the world. This is floating real estate. But it’s much more than that. It’s about the lifestyle that we’re offering, the possibility to discover the world without leaving home.”

This concept of constant movement yet stable living is what makes ULYSSIA a game-changer in the luxury yacht market. While most yachts remain anchored for significant periods, ULYSSIA will be continuously sailing, taking its residents to various destinations—from chic ports in the Mediterranean to the most secluded corners of the globe.

Residents on ULYSSIA will have access to seven world-class restaurants, a gourmet market, and several lounges, bars, and entertainment spaces. Whether it’s a Michelin-star meal or an intimate evening at the cigar lounge, ULYSSIA has been designed to cater to every whim. The yacht will also feature multiple pools, expansive sundecks, a fully equipped yacht club, and a spa operated by the renowned Chenot brand.

Interior designer Francesca Muzio has crafted the public spaces and private residences with the intent to blur the lines between home and nature. “The pandemic made us all realise how important it is to be surrounded by nature. With ULYSSIA, we are creating a new typology of living because over 70% of the world is water. There is great potential to live without limits on water,” says Muzio.

Cutting-Edge Design Meets Sustainability

In a time when sustainability is at the forefront of global conversations, ULYSSIA has committed to being the most sustainable residential yacht ever built. Hybrid propulsion systems, incorporating methanol as the primary fuel source and biofuels where available, will power the yacht. Advanced battery storage and solar panels are also planned, reducing its ecological footprint.

The yacht’s construction will employ energy recovery systems and advanced hull designs to maximise efficiency. According to its builder, Meyer Werft, ULYSSIA will not only be a marvel of luxury but also an example of how large-scale vessels can operate sustainably.

Espen Øino, the project’s lead designer, emphasised the integration of these technologies: “We are creating something unprecedented in both scale and sustainability. Every detail has been considered, from the yacht’s propulsion to its environmental impact. This is the future of yachting.”

A Commitment to Philanthropy and Community

Beyond luxury, ULYSSIA is dedicated to leaving a positive impact wherever it goes. Through various philanthropic efforts, residents will have the chance to contribute to the communities they visit. Whether it’s through marine conservation, disaster relief, or supporting local cultural initiatives, ULYSSIA will serve as a platform for its residents to make a difference.

Alain J. Gruber, the CEO of ULYSSIA Residences AG, highlighted the importance of this aspect: “Philanthropy is at the core of our company’s values. Our residents will be able to generously contribute to local communities, whether through disaster relief, marine conservation or other forms of assistance. While experiencing exceptional adventures, services, and amenities, our community will leave a positive legacy.”

For residents, this means more than just visiting beautiful places. It’s about immersing themselves in the culture and challenges of each destination, using the collective resources aboard to make meaningful contributions. This sense of purpose adds depth to ULYSSIA’s appeal, offering its residents the chance to do more than just explore—they can leave a lasting impact.

Unparalleled Safety and Security

In an era where personal security is paramount, ULYSSIA spares no expense in ensuring the well-being of its residents. A partnership with Marine Guard, specialists in the yachting and marine industry, guarantees multiple layers of protection. Former special forces personnel will also be part of the yacht’s security team, ensuring peace of mind no matter where ULYSSIA sails.

Additionally, ULYSSIA will be equipped with comprehensive medical facilities, including MRI machines and dental services. In the event of emergencies, two helicopters will be available to transport residents to the nearest safe location.

The Future of Living at Sea

Set to begin construction in 2024, with delivery expected by 2028, ULYSSIA is not just a yacht—it’s the next evolution in ocean living. Its combination of luxury, sustainability, and community engagement positions it as a leader in the industry.

Residents of ULYSSIA won’t just be buying a home; they’ll be investing in a lifestyle that transcends borders, embracing a life where the horizon is ever-changing, and where every destination offers new possibilities for discovery and impact.

As Frank Binder aptly summarises, “Your home is the world, and your life knows no boundaries.”
