In response to the growing need for sustainable practices in the nautical industry, Italia Yachts has embraced eco-friendly materials and processes in crafting the IY 9.98 NextGen. The yacht’s hull, deck, and structural elements are made from recyclable resin, flax fibre, and recycled PET materials, minimising its carbon footprint. Secondary components, including headliners and furniture, feature the same environmentally conscious materials combined with eco-epoxy or recyclable resin.

This commitment extends throughout the entire lifecycle of the yacht, from production to disposal. By reducing reliance on virgin materials and incorporating innovative recycling solutions, Italia Yachts demonstrates its dedication to the ecological transition of the nautical sector. For sailors, this means owning a vessel that aligns with their environmental values without compromising on quality or performance.

The IY 9.98 NextGen introduces cutting-edge 4.0 technologies designed to enhance both performance and sustainability. Two standout innovations are the Gene.Sys and FibO systems:

  • Gene.Sys: A digital lifecycle management system that tracks the production, operation, and maintenance of composite components. It ensures optimal performance while adhering to sustainability criteria.
  • FibO: A fibre optic monitoring system that predicts wear and tear on materials, enabling sailors to maintain their yacht proactively and sustainably.

These advancements empower sailors to make informed decisions, whether optimising performance during a regatta or minimising environmental impact during leisure cruising.

Italia Yachts has carefully designed the IY 9.98 NextGen to achieve an ideal balance between speed, style, and functionality. The sleek, aerodynamic hull provides optimal sailing characteristics, whether upwind in light breezes or downwind in heavy gusts. Its ergonomic deck layout ensures seamless manoeuvres, making it equally suited for competitive racing and short-handed cruising.

The yacht’s versatility is further highlighted by the choice of dual-wheel or tiller steering, catering to the preferences of various sailors. For competitive racers, the lightweight design includes removable fabric-based cabinetry and lockers, reducing displacement without sacrificing usability. The yacht’s exterior seamlessly blends aesthetics and aerodynamics, reducing drag while maintaining its iconic, modern silhouette.

The IY 9.98 NextGen proves that sustainability and comfort can go hand in hand. Its interior combines artisanal craftsmanship with durable, lightweight materials to create a space that is as functional as it is inviting. The layout features two spacious cabins, an aft bathroom, and a central saloon with a dinette, L-shaped galley, and chart table. Modern gelcoat surfaces provide durability, while removable components offer versatility for both racing and leisure use.

Attention to detail is evident throughout the design, from aluminium-framed doors for added resilience to the clever positioning of amenities like the gimballed stove and fridge compartment. Every element of the interior reflects Italia Yachts’ dedication to blending luxury with eco-conscious design.
